Will Work for Gumdrops!
Gumdrop Swap was born when the Great Recession of 2008 hit. Everyone was being affected by layoffs, downsizing, and companies going bankrupt. I found myself unemployed and a new mom. How was I supposed to keep getting clothes for my growing child with no income? I had adorable clothes, some from the baby shower my daughter never wore! They were perfect, except they didn't fit. Donating was a nice gesture but didn't help me get what I needed in return. I had no patience for the waiting game of consigning. Resale shops offered pennies for what my items were worth. Why couldn't I just swap them in for the next size up? I figured I wasn't the only parent with this dilemma. So, the trick was to figure out how to make it into a business. I created a value system depending on what type items were being swapped. That way, you didn't have to trade a shirt for a shirt. Once you earned credits, you can use them for whatever you need.
We're not hiring yet, BUT the Will Work for Gumdrops Program allows you to earn store credits (gumdrops) in exchange for your time and help at the store.
