SWAP IN:
  • Gumdrops are the name of the currency at GumdropSwap.  A gumdrop has the same value as $1 (one U.S. Dollar) but cannot be cashed out. You earn gumdrops when you trade in gently used children’s items. When you place an order through our store, we call that “Swap Out”. Gumdrops can be used to pay for the items in your cart and your outgoing shipping charges. If you do not have enough gumdrops to pay for your entire order, you will be prompted to pay the difference through Paypal™ (Paypal™ account not required).
  • Clothing must be freshly laundered even if it was cleaned before storing to kill allergens and odors (prefer hypoallergenic detergent like Dreft®). *Clothing that requires laundering upon arrival at our facility will only be awarded half of the Gumdrop value!
  • We are concerned with quality more than the brand/label associated with the clothing. We only accept and distribute the highest quality children’s garments. Anything that does not meet our “gently used” quality standard is not awarded the full Gumdrop swap-in value, but awarded a value of ($)1 gumdrop per item. We call these “Goodie Gumdrops” and these items are donated to charity.
  • In an effort to avoid waste, we salvage damaged items by repairing or repurposing them into new apparel, accessories or quilts, which are sold under our  “Gumdrop Couture” label. If you send in items unfit for charity (badly stained, ripped, missing a zipper, etc.) you will not earn any gumdrops but are donating to this recycling effort. If you want to submit your unusable, damaged items for this recycling program please separate those items in your shipment and label “DONATE”. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping these things out of our nation’s landfills.
  • By swapping in items, you agree to our discretionary quality system and give us permission to rate your items according to our biased opinion.

INSTRUCTIONS: Find the category your items fit into best. Fill in the quantity for that category. Multiply your quantity by the Gumdrop Value each item is worth and type/write that number in the Subtotal column. Do not write in the Official Use column. Example: You are sending in 2 pairs of jeans so you write “2” in the Swap In Quantity column. Then multiply 2 by the number 6, which is the Gumdrop Value for the category “Pants: Jeans”. Enter the total of 12 into the Subtotal column for that same category line. Do that for each category and add all the numbers in the Subtotal column to find the “Total Gumdrops Expected”. That total is the amount your account will be credited as long as your items meet our quality standards (and you did your math correctly).  If you have items that are not listed below and want to know if we accept them, send inquiries to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Currently, we do not swap plastic or wooden toys, stuffed animals or other similar items from online members. We focus on clothing, shoes, and essential baby items that are made of washable fabrics.

* Local members have the luxury of the boutique experience. You may bring in items and if you have time, you can shop while your items are inspected and their Gumdrop value determined. Or you may set up an appointment to drop off your items. We will credit your account with Gumdrops and you can then shop online. Local members can swap small equipment like playpens, bouncers, strollers, swings, etc. We swap furniture like cribs and changing tables but may turn down large items due to limited space. Inquire ahead before bringing large items. Car seats cannot be swapped due to state safety restrictions. If you have a question about accepted items, email or call first!
