Have you ever heard of National Gumdrop Day before? Of all the lesser-known holidays, I can't believe I'm just learning about this one! Feb. 15, 2014 is National Gumdrop Day. The exact origin of this sugar covered gelatin candy is not clear. Many people believe that a man named Percy Trusdale invented the gumdrop in 1801, but there is very little evidence. What we do know is that gumdrops have been a popular confection for at least two hundred years. Gumdrops can come in fruity flavors like grape, cherry, orange, and lemon or spiced flavors like cinnamon, clove, mint, and anise. When choosing a name for my clothing swap boutique I wanted a name that evoked childlike innocence and fun because "kids clothing swap" was boring and unimaginative. Gumdrops come in bright colors ad that inspired the branding colors I chose for my logo and store paint.
